Delineated ground. Anything with a curved perimeter or an enclosure. A line can hold a void, a floor surface, a subject, a thought, something fleeting or heavy, or a background. Some may be holes, some are guts, some are conduits, some are empty. They cradle hollow or fugitive regions, or contain swamps and real estate. They can be many forms or materials, quicksand to moth holes, rends to tears. Moats or pipes, they may protect or leak. They have the ability of holding an absence, or they surround an emptiness. They are the rim of a soup bowl or the dry swells of a puddle. They are the thick and sticky interiors of enclosures. They are holes in the core and they absorb towards their interior.
“Longing is my favorite Material for engaging (not picturing, not illustrating) holes.” Pope.L.
